WPA3 SAE authentication parameters

The different parameters that are sent in an SAE authentication handshake are provided in this article.

  • Scalar field – This is used with SAE authentication to communicate cryptographic material with the peer entity

  • Finite Field Element (FFE) field – This field is used in SAE authentication to communicate an element in the finite field

  • Confirm field – This field is used in SAE authentication to authenticate and prove possession of a cryptographic key

  • Group-ID field/Finite Cyclic Group field – This field in SAE authentication is used to indicate the cryptographic group to use in SAE authentication.
    • NOTE: This field element in Fast Initial Link Setup (FILS) operation also indicates the group to use in FILS authentication.

  • Send-confirm – This field in SAE authentication is used an anti-replay counter
